This print was part of three posters that were taken from the '' Two Soups and a Honeybun '' book and art show which was shown in London at Protein Gallery and Los Angeles at HVW8 Gallery.The 36 pieces in the book were all completed in New Mexico while the artist was imprisoned for 3 months before he was deported back to the U.K in July of 2010.
ThIs series was a departure from what the artists subject manor was before the time of his arrest. At this time the artist was creating 5ft wood burns mainly of psychedelic landscapes and nude woman.
But quickly the artist switched his style up.
One day while sitting in the yard for the only hour the convicts were aloud outside. In a massive cage with a pull up bar, a basketball hoop and a wall for handball. The artist noticed birds hanging out on the wire and something clicked and he started adding what kind of look like bird faces to what he thought were plan views of an architects sketch or something.
He had no plan on what he was drawing. he just wanted to draw to get his mind off his shit surroundings.
Also this was the first time the artist used straight lines in his work. These lines were created with the help of his prison I.D and the pencil used was no longer that 1 inch other wise it would be considered a weapon.
